Cruise ships bring in nearly 3,000 tourists
Five-star cruise liner Costa Allegra of Italy with nearly 1,200 tourists aboard anchored at the Sai Gon Port in Ho Chi Minh City on December 3.
The visitors, most of them are from the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain, are scheduled to tour the city and its Cu Chi war relic site before embarking on scenic tours to Mekong Delta provinces of Tien Giang and Ben Tre.
Also on December 3, the Saigontourist Travel Service Company welcomed the cruise ship SuperStar Libra that docked at the Cai Lan Port in northeastern Quang Ninh Province on its first voyage to Vietnam.
Some 1,700 holidaymakers aboard the SuperStar Libra will visit the UNESCO-recognised world natural heritage Halong Bay and the Bai Chay Resort and go shopping at the Hon Gai Market.
Le Quang Thang, head of Saigontourist’s cruise travel department said that around 1,000-2,200 visitors from Hong Kong will travel to Halong Bay by the SuperStar Libra or SuperStar Virgo every week in the coming time.
The Saigontourist Travel Service Company has so far this year received 40,167 sea cruise tourists, representing a year-on-year increase of 159%.
